Hello devels

Im writing to this list because I tried desperatly to switch the frame
buffer effects and
soft shadows on in the game "Knights Of the old Republic".
I know this might be not the right place to talk to but it affects also
the sequel of the game and
maybe other games too who are using this.
The LucasArts websites clearly states:
http://support.lucasarts.com/tsg/SWKotORIIQuestions/Video%20Issues/VSPSCapabilities.htm

I swear I googled as hell, searched in forums - I never saw any kind of
an answer to this and
i got this problem already since cedega 4.x when I first tried to play
this game on Linux.
My thoughts were, hey just wait maybe in the next release its going to
be fixed - but no it isnt.
So is this a well known problem?
Will it ever be fixed?
Is there a workaround or a hint why this game cant recognize the
pixel/vertex shaders?
Another good place to look out?
I really dont know who I can ask else ;)

Thank you very much

My cedega version is:
Cedega GUI Version: 5.2
Cedega Engine Version (current default): 5.2

My Linux version is:
2.6.17-beyond3-cerberus (Gentoo distribution)
(beyond patchset is basicly the ck patchset + additional stuff)

Nvidia drivers:1.0.8774
My card is an Geforce 6600GT 128MB PCI-E

This game uses OpenGL so the settings for Pixel and Vertex shaders are a
no-op.

The game has some sort of internal card database as evidenced by running
swconfig.exe. I wonder if those two options are available only for
"blessed" cards running certain driver versions.

Cedega reports a bogus card specifically to deal with these in-game
databases because the actual capabilities may not match the windows drivers.

I messed with this a few years ago in the cedega CVS version and was
able to get the right card displayed but it still didn't accept the
driver. My fuzzy memory says that the game was traversing the PCI tee
looking for video devices. I seem to recall it looking for Enum\\PCI\\

That's all I can remember for now. Like I said, it was years ago.
